December 2023 Meeting - Christmas Tea at The Barn in the Village
On a gray and misty, drizzly Saturday, 28 members and friends of the Rosemary and Thyme Herb Society met up at the Carl J. McWeen Historic Village for a Christmas Tea.
Upon entering the barn, we were greeted by a lovely decorated area. Every table was pre-set with a plate of savory finger foods with a large three-tier stand of desserts.
The savory treats included:
Chicken Cup, Spinach Ball, Caprese Skewer, Ham and Cheese, Turkey Bite, Beef on Rye, Cheesy Bacon, Cucumber Sandwich, Cheese Cracker, and Tomato and Pesto Toast
The tower of desserts featured the following:
Christmas Jam & Cream Scone, Citrus Cookie, Raspberry Tart, Cranberry Cake, Bourbon Balls, Peanut Butter Cake, Mint Brownie, Apple Pie Muffin, Holiday Cheesecake and Jelly Puff
The dessert tea, a lovely spiced tea, was served along with the scone in a cup.
The Herb Society took up most of the tables during our time slot at the event.
(I think one table was missed. I'm so sorry. )
Prior to the tea, since we had all arrived in plenty of time, many did a little shopping in the General Store. As we were polishing off the last of our delicious food, we were treated to a holiday song by a professional opera singer.
Overall, everyone seemed to have a great time and left full. A delightful end to a good year for the Rosemary and Thyme Herb Society of Gaston County. May 2024 be even better!
